Summer Mentorship Experience Application Process

Please note that we will not be placing in India for the 2013 SME.

Applications are due on January 22, 2013 at 9 a.m. Applications submitted at or after 9:01 a.m. will not be accepted. 

Application Instructions   

The application is found online at http://ofur-app.rice.edu/application/. To return to your started application go to ofur-app.rice.edu/private. Please follow these instructions explicitly:

 For this application you will need:

·       A headshot photo (jpg)

·       Unofficial Transcript (PDF)

·       Resume (PDF)

·       Completed “SME Supplemental Information and Essays” form in PDF (see below)

·       Contact information for one recommender (name and email)

1)     Complete the online application form at http://ofur-app.rice.edu/application/. 

a.     Under “Awards/Opportunities” check ONLY “Summer Mentorship Experience.”

b.     Be prepared to upload a photo(.jpg), transcript(.pdf), and resume(.pdf).

c.     E-sign and submit the form.

d.    Upon submitting the form, you can visit ofur-app.rice.edu/private and log in with your netID to upload additional items or make changes.

2)     After clicking “submit” you will be directed to a page with three options: 

a.     Portal – Use this page to update your application

b.     Recommendation Letters – You will provide the name and email of a recommender. We will send them a form and they will complete it electronically. Recommendations are due by Tuesday, January 22 at 9 a.m. Please confirm with your recommender that they agree to write a recommendation on your behalf before submitting their name. It is your responsibility to follow-up with your recommender to ensure the recommendation is complete by the deadline.

c.     Essays – Complete the “SME Supplemental Information and Essays” document (found below). Save it as a PDF, and upload it to the "Essays" section of your application.
