Summer Mentorship Experience Summer 2011, Houston, TX
Organization: Spring Branch, ISD
What I did: I documented the actions Spring Branch needs to take to accommodate each new law that passed in the Legislative Session. I also planned a new mentoring program between a high school and a neighboring elementary school. The most important lesson I learned was the importance of relationship building. A “purely business” relationship was unheard-of at SBISD and Superintendent Duncan Klussmann is a great example of a leader who puts the highest emphasis on relationship building and communication. The experience changed the way I view organizations and the manner in which I perform my duties in the organizations I am a part of.
